Everything you need to know about... Wakefield Trinity

The countdown is on for Saturday afternoon as Leeds Rhinos prepare to take on Wakefield Trinity at AMT Headingley in the club's annual MND Awareness Game, KO 4.30pm.

The club's are two of the in-form sides coming into round 13, as they both look to extend their winning runs to four games.

Here's everything you need to know about our opposition, Wakefield Trinity:

2025: The Comeback Story

12 rounds have passed since the Rhinos and Trinity last met in the season opener and after a tight contest back in February, it's no surprise both sides occupy spots in the top six of the Betfred Super League table.

Since winning their first game at AMT Headingley since the 2019 season, Trinity have gone on to win seven games in all competitions to sit sixth in the standings. Although they're in a strong spot as the season's halfway mark approaches, head coach Daryl Powell is in search of a bit more consistency as his side has only managed a maximum of two consecutive wins before suffering defeat.

After beating Leeds, they conceded consecutive losses to Hull KR and St Helens in front of a home crowd before picking up a result against Warrington as well as a Cup triumph over Huddersfield to progress to the quarter finals, where they were eventually knocked out by Leigh. The Leopards, Hull FC, Catalans and St Helens again pulled off wins to push Trinity down as low as ninth, but recently the club has bounced back thanks to two results against neighbours Castleford and a high-scoring 40-10 scoreline over the Wolves in round 11.

They also added a hefty 72-10 win against Salford in round twelve to match their record score in a Super League match. 18-year-old Ellis Lingard stole the show with two tries, whilst Caius Faatili celebrated his new deal to stay at Trinity with two more tries to take his total to six for the year.

Overall, it has been a successful first half of the season for Powell, but the job is only half done as they get ready to run into the next 14 games. That includes a third and final clash with the Rhinos too at the DIY Kitchens Stadium in round 20.

Round Twelve Review

Key Names

Max Jowitt - Super League's leading points scorer has built off the back of a record season in the Championship by scoring seven tries and 47 goals so far in 2025. Last time out against Salford he kicked 10 out of 13 conversions to lead the club to equal it's record Super League scoreline, and added a try for good measure from the full back position.

Caius Faatili - 23-year-old forward Faatili has earned himself an extended stay at Wakefield after starting the season as one of the club's top performers. Two tries in each of his last three outings against Castleford, Warrington and Salford saw a new deal lock the prop in for three more years, a decision he said was an easy one to sign.

Mason Lino - With four try assists in his last two games, Lino has been Trinity's lead try supplier in 2025. Now in his fifth year at the club, he has been the only half at the club to have played every game so far, even with the club signing Jake Trueman and Olly Russell in the off season.

Lachlan Walmsley - After scoring a length of the field effort on Boxing Day against Leeds, Walmsley has worked his way into being one of Powell's first choice on the wing after an electric 2024 season. Recently, he has tries in wins over Castleford and Salford, and looks to extend that tally when he faces Leeds this weekend.
