MATCH PREVIEW | Rhinos Women set for AMT Headingley appearance this Saturday

Leeds Rhinos Women are back at AMT Headingley Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Lois Forsell's side take on Wigan Warriors as part of a double header of rugby action at the stadium, kick off 2pm.

After their clash in the Betfred Women's Challenge Cup earlier this month, the Rhinos look to avenge their semi-final defeat to the Warriors by securing a first win of the new league campaign. Wigan can head into Cup Final week with a win if they can get a first away win against Leeds since 2018.

Wigan's commitment to developing and investing in its homegrown squad players has paid off in 2025 as the club has made its best start to a Betfred Women's Super League campaign in its history.

Denis Betts has taken Wigan's Women's programme to a new level since the former Warriors player took the reins in 2024. Off the back of consecutive appearances in the top four, but unable to make the next step to compete for silverware since their sole Grand Final win in 2018, Betts has changed the team's fortunes around by claiming the 9s Finals trophy last year and guiding the side to a first Challenge Cup Final in a week's time.

This year has been convincing so far for the Warriors as they've swept all before them in the Cup and League. A 44-14 win over Leeds in the Cup semis continued a winning run that saw the side knock out Barrow, London and Cardiff before taking out the two-time winners. Entering the League season soon after, the Warriors made a statement to the league by posting 40 points and conceding only six against York, before dismantling Barrow at home too last time out.

Long-serving talents Molly Jones, Grace Banks, Anna Davies and Eva Hunter lead the try scoring front - Jones has scored her seven tries across all five games this year. Homegrown half back Jenna Foubister has been impressive too in her first full season at half back, whilst Australian imports Shaniah and Tiana Power, Emily Veivers and Remi Wilton have all slotted into Betts' Warriors outfit and already opened their try scoring accounts.

Based on previous form, the Warriors have historically struggled against Leeds as they've only won three times in all competitions. Until their Cup semi final win earlier this year, Wigan had suffered 12 consecutive defeats to Leeds, including 10 league outings between May 2019 and September 2024.
