Run For Rob : The streets of Leeds are set to echo with the footsteps of thousands as the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, Leeds Half Marathon returns

This Sunday, thousands of runners and supporters will take to the streets of Leeds in a powerful tribute to the late sporting legend Rob Burrow CBE, with the return of the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, in partnership with Clarion and Leeds Half Marathon. New additions for 2025 will see a Relay element join the main event on Sunday as teams of seven will each conquer a segment of the full marathon route, promoting teamwork and camaraderie.

Adding to the weekend of celebration, the MND Mile will take place on Saturday 10May at Leeds Beckett’s Headingley campus. Set to embody the spirit of inclusivity and community that defines the weekend and gives the perfect opportunity for a warmup exercise ahead of Sunday.>span class="Apple-converted-space">

The one-mile route for people of all ages and abilities to show their support for the MND community, will shine a spotlight on Rob’s tireless work to raise awareness of MND and raise funds for those living with the condition.

Organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, the UK’s largest not-for-profit sporting events company, in partnership with Leeds City Council, the 2025 edition of the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon promises to be the most memorable yet – honouring Rob’s legacy, raising vital funds for motor neurone disease (MND), and uniting people from all backgrounds for a weekend of celebration and purpose.

Since the inaugural event in 2022, the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon has raised over £9 million for a wide range of charities, and this year the dedication of thousands participating in any of the events over the weekend will further fuel the vital work of the events two main partner charities: the MND Association and the Leeds Hospitals Charity.

Participants are welcomed to raise funds for other official partner causes including Leeds Hospitals Charity, MND Association, 4ED MND, Alzheimer’s Society, Candlelighters, Happy Days Children’s Charity, Leeds Rhinos Foundation, St Gemma’s Hospice, Leeds North and West Foodbank, My Name’s Doddie Foundation, Stand Against MND and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

The marathon and half marathon will start and finish at AMT Headingley Stadium, the home of Leeds Rhinos and the club where Rob made his name. The 26.2-mile course will wind its way through some of the most scenic and vibrant parts of Leeds – from the lively suburb of Headingley to the market town of Otley and back – showcasing the city at its finest as participants conquer what the course is famous for; the Otley Chevin.

From first-time marathoners and charity fundraisers to wheelchair participants and elite athletes, the event embodies Rob’s values of inclusivity, friendship, and determination. Whether you're taking on the full marathon or the MND Mile, the 2025 event will offer something for everyone.

Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All said: “We’re proud to once again bring the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, in partnership with Clarion back to the streets of Leeds, along with Leeds Half Marathon and the introduction of the MND Mile for 2025. Rob inspired us all with his courage and determination to create lasting change. We invite everyone – of all ages and abilities – to lace up their trainers, take part, and help us raise funds and awareness for the MND community. It’s not just a run – it’s a movement, and memories to last a lifetime.”
