MATCH PREVIEW | Rhinos Academy set for AMT Headingley outing in Friday's double header

Good Friday's double header matchup kicks off as two unbeaten sides in the Under-18s Academy Championship, Leeds Rhinos and Huddersfield Giants, face off at AMT Headingley in the first game of the day, kick off 3pm.
A confident performance against Castleford saw Chev Walker's side run riot at The Jungle to complement their first round win in a tussle with Wigan Warriors. This Friday sees the young Rhinos face a Huddersfield side who have only won once in the last five meetings against Leeds. That win came in 2023 when a late fightback from Leeds couldn't repair the first half damage done by the Giants, but the Rhinos bounced back later that year to score 12 tries at Laund Hill.
Under the stewardship of Steve Fox, Huddersfield Giants Under-18s have made a confident start to the 2025 Academy season as they sit top of the table as the highest-scoring side after two games.
Since finishing fourth and reaching the semi-finals in the 2018 season, the club have missed the play offs in each of the last five years. This year looks to be different though as they have come out of the blocks firing on all cylinders to be one of five teams with two wins from two.
A 66-14 triumph over Salford back at the end of March gave the Giants the best possible start to a campaign as Alex Chippendale, Harvey Barker, Roman Sharma and Sam Beety all scored two tries each as part of the 12-try drubbing. A fortnight later, a stern task against St Helens saw the Giants come out on top again with a 26-16 result against the 2024 Academy Grand Finalists. Chippendale was amongst the scorers again as he added another two tries to his name for the season, whilst Beety's try and three goals puts him as the leading points scorer in the Giants Academy camp in 2025
