Salford takeover completed ahead of Rhinos clash

Ahead of the Rhinos trip to Salford this Saturday, the Red Devils have today confirmed that the takeover of the club has been formally approved by RFL Commercial, following the completion of the final requirements.

As such, the club will be in a position to field a full-strength squad on Saturday for the Salford Red Devil’s opening home fixture against Leeds Rhinos.

The Red Devils have fielded two vastly different teams in their opening two games of the season against Midlands Hurricanes in the Betfred Challenge Cup Third Round and for last week's record breaking defeat at St Helens. 

However their 21 man squad for Saturday's game is at full strength with a host of former Rhinos in the squad including Nene MacDonald, Brad Singleton, Justin Sangare, Kallum Watkins, Jack Ormondroyd and Kai Morgan. 

The Happy Mondays will be performing some of their hit songs from the past four and a half decades before kick-off and at half-time.

The iconic band, including stars of the Madchester scene Shaun Ryder and Mark “Bez” Berry, started their journey in Salford back in 1980 before going on to sell out venues around the world and reach platinum status.

The band’s seminal 1990 hits “Step On” and “Kinky Afro” both reached no.5 in the UK charts, with the former reaching platinum status.
