Rhinos Women hoping to get back to winning ways against Featherstone this Sunday

Leeds Rhinos Women hope to keep their hopes of a home semi final alive this Sunday as they clash with bottom of the league Featherstone Rovers at AMT Headingley this Sunday, kick off 12pm.

Although the top four teams are decided with two games to go, results are key for the Rhinos as they enter this round on level league points with Wigan Warriors and last week's winners at AMT Headingley York Valkyrie. With Leeds set to face Wigan in the final game of the regular season, a result for Leon Crick's side this Sunday would boost them towards hosting a post season game, whilst a win for Rovers would give them their first victory of the year.

Here's our match preview:

Opposition Preview

As the only side in the Betfred Women's Super League without a win in 2024, Featherstone Rovers have had a tough reintroduction back into the top tier.

Having spent the last two seasons in Group 2 of the Super League competition, head coach Marie Colley made the move from Castleford to guide the side to a third-place finish in 2022 before topping the league in 2023 with eight wins from ten games. Their superior points difference to Barrow earned Featherstone an automatic place in the top tier of Super League for 2024, before the Raiders joined them with a play off win over Leigh.

This league season has proved tough so far as the Rovers are still without a win. They lost out a high-scoring 34-28 matchup against Warrington in round one, and after defeats to Wigan and St Helens, Barrow got the better of Colley's side at the start of June in a rematch between the two promoted sides. Since then, York, Wigan and Huddersfield have added defeats, as well as Warrington who sneaked a 16-10 win at the Millennium Stadium.

Following a 68-6 loss to Leeds and 56-6 result against St Helens last month, they returned to action in another 12-defeat to Barrow as Tally Bryer, Brogan Mellor-Churm and Katie Evans found the try line in a 28-16 score. Now they head back to Leeds for the first time since 2019, when the Rhinos walked away 52-0 winners at Sports Park, Weetwood.

After clashing with Leeds, York Valkyrie's visit to the Millennium Stadium rounds off Featherstone's season next Sunday.
