So far in 2024...

With Wigan firmly embroiled in the fight for the League Leaders' Shield with seven games remaining, the Warriors arrive at AMT Headingley this weekend to play their third game in nine days.

Coming into the season as Grand Final champions, the club quickly added the World Club to their honours haul as head coach Matt Peet became one of a select few coaches to hold all four trophies (Grand Final, Challenge Cup, League Leaders' Shield and World Club) all at the same time. In the league, a quick start against Castleford saw the side rise to the top of the standings with eight wins in their opening ten Super League matches, before they went on a further ten match winning streak which included Cup wins over Hull KR and Warrington in the Final.

As Wigan looked set to add another League Leaders' Shield to their tally, Warrington got their revenge after Hull FC stole a 24-22 win against the Warriors to throw Matt Peet's side into a contest with Hull KR and Warrington for the top spot. They quickly responded to the 40-4 defeat to Sam Burgess' side with a 28-14 result against Huddersfield in round 20, thanks to tries from Zack Eckersley, Jai Field, Ryan Hampshire and Jake Wardle.

After a convincing first half helped the side beat Leigh Leopards 28-6 on Tuesday night, Wigan play the first of two meetings with Leeds between now and the end of the season. After Saturday's meeting at AMT Headingley, the Rhinos make the return trip to The Brick Community Stadium in round 26 for another blockbusting clash. Before then, a Magic Weekend clash with St Helens sees the two sides meet for the first time at the event since 2022, and then the Warriors play both Hull FC and Hull KR on either side of an away trip to Catalans.

After their penultimate regular season game against Leeds, Salford travel to Wigan to face the Warriors, who hope that a League Leaders' is tied up by that point.

Squad

Ones to Watch

Liam Marshall

Winger Liam Marshall has been rewarded for his try-scoring form in 2024 as he signed a new four-year deal to extend his stay at his hometown club.

With seven games to go, Marshall can set a new personal record for tries scored in a single season and also finish as Super League's top try scorer for the first time in his career as he leads the chasing pack by six tries. No other Wigan player has made more carries and metres than the winger this year too as he added a World Club win and Challenge Cup title to his name.

Having debuted back in 2017, he has amassed 175 games in cherry and white, won seven major honours, and hopes to be in the fold for England at the end of the year.

Jai Field

Although he missed Tuesday's outing against Leigh, Jai Field will hope to be in contention for one of the games of the season for the Warriors.

The electric full back, who is one of the Warriors' key strike weapons in the back line, made his first Super League appearance since the end of May in round 20 as he's played 11 times for Wigan this campaign. Despite his time off the field, he has still been part of the sides that lifted the Challenge Cup Final in June and the World Club in February, and with team mate Bevan French waiting in the wings to return, Field has the potential to spark a run in the post season.
