Rhinos Women back in league action against Featherstone this Sunday

With five games to go before the play offs in the Betfred Women's Super League, Leeds Rhinos Women look to keep their place at the top of the table as they take on Featherstone Rovers at the Millennium Stadium on Sunday afternoon, kick off 12pm.

Lois Forsell's side come into the game with wins in their last two away games, and after a break for the Nines Finals, the Rhinos have eyes on their remaining games, during which they play Featherstone twice.

Here's your match preview:

Opposition

As the only side in the Betfred Women's Super League without a win in 2024, Featherstone Rovers have had a tough reintroduction back into the top tier.

Having spent the last two seasons in Group 2 of the Super League competition, head coach Marie Colley made the move from Castleford to guide the side to a third-place finish in 2022 before topping the league in 2023 with eight wins from ten games. Their superior points difference to Barrow earned Featherstone an automatic place in the top tier of Super League for 2024, before the Raiders joined them with a play off win over Leigh.

This league season has proved tough so far as the Rovers enter round ten without league points to their name. They lost out a high-scoring 34-28 matchup against Warrington in round one, and after defeats to Wigan and St Helens, Barrow got the better of Colley's side at the start of June in a rematch between the two promoted sides. Since then, York, Wigan and Huddersfield have added defeats, as well as Warrington who sneaked a 16-10 win at the Millennium Stadium.

Sunday's game is the first time since 2021 that Rovers have taken on Leeds in the Women's Super League, having lost all five of their previous meetings to the Rhinos. Since the Rhinos joined the Women's competition in 2018, they beat Featherstone home and away in their opening two campaigns in 2018 and 2019, and also added a win in 2021 after the Covid pandemic.

A tough run in for Featherstone sees them play three clubs pushing for the Play Offs in St Helens, York Valkyrie and Leeds twice. They also host Barrow Raiders at the start of September in a chance to secure a win against a side that also earned promotion last year.
