So far in 2024...

The new season couldn't have started much better for Hull KR and Willie Peters as they opened their account with a five-try run out against Hull FC. With a host of new players making their debuts in red and white, the Robins recorded a convincing 22-0 result, led by homegrown talents Mikey Lewis and Jez Litten, before they secured their first home win of the year against the Rhinos. Although they suffered defeats to Salford and Warrington in rounds three and four, the Robins came back strong in convincing wins against Huddersfield, Hull FC for a second time, and London as Matt Parcell recorded a hat trick to help the side to a 50-10 result over the Broncos.

As they battled their play off rivals through the month of April and May, Peters' side overcame defeat to Catalans in Perpignan to beat both Wigan and St Helens - the latter seeing seven different try scorers contribute to a 40-20 win over the Saints - but Warrington got the best of the Robins again in round 11.

Bowing out of the Challenge Cup in the semi finals a week later, Hull KR have gone on quite the run in recent weeks as they've notched up five wins from six games. Beginning with another large win over the Broncos, they also swept Leigh, Huddersfield and Castleford aside, including a drop goal win against the Tigers at the end of June. After the international break, Catalans sneaked a 15-14 result in a close arm wrestle, but a third derby clash with neighbours Hull FC saw the Robins get back to winning ways in a 24-10 result.

Looking at their run in, the Robins face the Rhinos twice (this weekend and in the final game of the year), as well as London, Warrington, Castleford, Catalans, St Helens, Salford, Wigan and Leigh.

Squad

Ones to Watch

Mikey Lewis

Off the back of a memorable 2023, half back Mikey Lewis has kept up his standards so far in 2024 as he eyes up a potential Man of Steel nomination. In the final round of published votes, Lewis ranks fifth as he leads the Robins in points (114) and try involvements so far this season.

The England international, who featured for Shaun Wane in the mid-season clash against France, has slotted in seamlessly alongside 2024 signings Tyrone May and Niall Evalds as the trio have been key to the Robins' success. Evalds is just ahead of Lewis in terms of try assists, but the West Hull youngster ranks in the club's top five players for carries (ranks third with 241 carries), metres (rans third with 2,235 metres), line engaged runs (ranks second with 70 runs) and tackle breaks (ranks second with 94 breaks).

Peta Hiku

In his first season back in Super League, Peta Hiku has settled straight into Willie Peters' system as he has recorded 11 tries in 17 league appearances.

The former Warrington player signed for the Robins after a six year spell in the NRL with NZ Warriors and North Queensland, and has found himself more suited in the centres recently having started the year at full back. Hiku got off to a quick start with eight tries between round one and ten, but since then he has only recorded three scores including two against the Giants in June. Like Lewis, the Kiwi international's metres count has also been impressive as he currently ranks fifth in the league with 2218 metres.
