So far in 2024...

Under the eye of Sam Burgess, Warrington have hopes of a run at Old Trafford as they sit in third place with 11 games to go.

The start of the season saw Matt Dufty come to the forefront of the Wolves attack as the full back recorded six tries and five try assists, as well as the most tackle busts and clean breaks in the competition. Wingers Josh Thewlis and Matty Ashton has also started the season in try scoring form; Thewlis scoring three times in the win over London in round five.

Despite having a tough start to the season with a 16-10 defeat to Catalans at the Stade Gilbert Brutus, Burgess' side were convincing against Hull FC, Castleford and London, whilst also pipping Hull KR to a 22-20 result in one of the games of the season so far.

Rivals Round pitted the Wolves against the Dragons for a second time in the year, but the French outfit got their second win over Burgess' side with a 32-24 result as Tom Johnstone scored twice, but they bounced back to beat the Rhinos in their round eight meeting at the start of April, and Leigh in a 16-14 result. Even a 17-12 loss to Salford didn't set the Wire off their rhythm as they took down both Hull sides and got their revenge on the road in Catalans, but Wigan and the Red Devils proved the Wolves undoing either side of the Challenge Cup Final.

Warrington come into Thursday's game off the back of a big win last time out against Huddersfield as eight different try scorers contributed to a 48-0 win, but they have their eyes on some crucial fixtures over the next four weeks as they take on play off rivals St Helens, Wigan Warriors and Hull KR.

Squad

One to Watch

Matt Dufty

Matt Dufty has continued to be one of Warrington and Super League's top performers as the full back has come up with crucial plays when required in 2024. His second try against Hull FC to secure a 24-18 win is the full back's latest piece of magic, plus a try and four try assists against the Giants last time out shows his impact on the Wolves scoring as he's notched up 11 tries this year.

The full back has been a crucial cog in Burgess' side alongside George Williams. No player has made more carries and metres in Super League than Dufty this year, plus the former St George Dragon and Canterbury Bulldog also ranks in the league's top players for clean breaks, tackle busts and try assists.

Danny Walker

In his first season in the number nine shirt, hooker Danny Walker has been quick to get to work as he's taken over from Daryl Clark.

A product of Widnes' Academy, Walker has put in shift on the defensive front as he's made the joint most tackles out of any player this year (501, joint first with Hull's Danny Houghton), and in attack he leads the league's hookers in metres.
