Rhinos and Saints provide blockbuster opening to Saturday's triple header

The Betfred Women's Super League returns after last week's international between England and France as Leeds Rhinos and St Helens go head to head at AMT Headingley in one of the highlight matchups of the season, kick off 12.30pm.

Both sides had six representatives in Stu Barrow's side that beat France 42-0 in Toulouse, but now they go up against each other as the fight for the League Leaders' Shield continues in round seven.

St Helens take on the Rhinos for the third time in 2024 on Saturday, having won both of the previous meetings in the league and Challenge Cup. Matty Smith's side managed to edge a 12-6 result at the Totally Wicked Stadium earlier in round four, thanks to half back Faye Gaskin scoring all 12 points, before the Red Vee continued their domination of the Cup tournament as they lifted their fourth Challenge Cup at Wembley Stadium last month.

A competitive season so far in Super League sees Saints enter this week's contest in third place in the league table, two points behind joint leaders Leeds and Wigan. Looking back at their first six games of the league season, the Red Vee's sole loss came in round one as a late Carrie Roberts try snatched a win for reigning Grand Final champions York on opening weekend. Since then, Smith and the Saints have been one of the competition's in-form teams, beating Huddersfield, Featherstone, Leeds and Wigan before securing their Challenge Cup win.

Whilst other sides were in action prior to the international break, Saints' round six clash with York was moved to later this month, meaning that Saturday's opponents have a game in hand on the Rhinos over the next fortnight.

As the Betfred Women's Super League enters the second half of the season, Smith's side have a tough run of fixtures as they take on Wigan Warriors on the road next Friday night, before hosting Warrington and York towards the end of the month.

They then look forward to two games against Barrow, as well as clashes against Featherstone, Huddersfield and the Wolves on the road before the Play Offs commence in September.
