Saints next up for Rhinos Scholars on Wednesday night

As the Scholarship season approaches its climax, Leeds Rhinos Under-16s travel to Blackbrook to take on St Helens on Wednesday night, kick off 7pm.

A near perfect season has seen Mark Butterill's side win every match so far in 2024, and as they head to take on St Helens, they hope to keep that winning run going with three games left. Last time out the young Rhinos produced a major second half performance to defeat Huddersfield Giants on home soil, thanks to two tries each from Cobi Ellis and Harvey Butterworth, which added to their wins over Bradford, Wakefield, Castleford and Hull FC already this season.

Out of the three games left to play, Butterill's side have Hull KR and Warrington waiting after Wednesday's test against Saints; Hull KR is the only home game left for the young Rhinos.

Saints enter this week on a run of form themselves, having beaten Castleford Tigers and Hull FC in their last two games. Wednesday's hosts lost their opening two games against Wigan and Warrington in March and April, but bounced back to win their last two with games against the Rhinos, Huddersfield and Wakefield still to play.

Team News

Eight changes from head coach Butterill sees Micah Charles, Sonny Hetherington, Noah Lunn, Daniel Shaw, Seth Marchant, Jack Smith, Robin Smith and Wade White come back into the side after missing the Huddersfield game.

Charles and Hetherington move into the back line for their third appearances of the season, whilst White, who has been utilised as a half back mostly this season, gets his chance at full back against the Saints. First year half back Seth Marchant partners Jacob Hardy for the second time this season, as Hardy rotates from loose forward into the halves, and in the forward pack, Robin Smith is the only new inclusion as Daniel Stelfox and Brennan Townend both move off the bench to be starters for this game.

Lunn, Shaw and Smith are among the substitutes for the first time since the Bradford win. Smith and Lunn were both try scorers in that game. Harvey Butterworth, Dacx Jones-Buchanan and the side's top try scorer Zak Lloyd play their sixth successive game of the campaign.
