Rhinos Women take on Barrow Raiders for the first time this Saturday

As part of a double header of action on Saturday afternoon at AMT Headingley Stadium, Leeds Rhinos Women face off against Barrow Raiders Ladies for the first time ever in the Betfred Women's Super League competition, kick off 2.45pm.
The fixture, which is also the first official meeting between the clubs in any competition, is part of an action-packed round five as the Rhinos look to bounce back from their defeat to St Helens last time out and head into their preparations for Wembley with winning momentum. Barrow on the other hand got their first win of the season last weekend and are aiming to push up the league standings.
Here's a closer look at the fixture...
Opposition
2024 marks Barrow Raiders' first season in Group One of the Betfred Women's Super League as the side earned promotion from Group Two last October.
After building through the Championship in 2018, 2019 and 2021, the Raiders have finished second in group two of the Super League in both 2022 and 2023 under the watch of head coach Amanda Wilkinson. Wilkinson has an admirable CV to her name, which includes leading Wigan Warriors to Grand Final glory in the side's first year in the Women's Super League in 2018, and she is also involved in Serbia's international side, serving as head coach of the Women's team and as an assistant coach of the men's outfit.
Having fallen in their bid for promotion in 2022 at the semi-final stage to Featherstone, Wilkinson and the Raider rallied this time around against Leigh Leopards, who they had beaten by two points a month before the promotion final. Thanks to tries from Beth Lindsay and Jodie Morley, Barrow saw off the Leopards' challenge to end a five-year wait to join group one of the Betfred Women's Super League.

Barrow's season so far in the top tier got off to a tough start as they battled hard with Wigan in an 18-4 defeat. They were also competitive against reigning Champions York, who opened their account for the season with a 28-8 result at Craven Park, as well as Warrington Wolves in a tight 10-6 loss. Last weekend though, they got their first league win against fellow promoted side Featherstone Rovers; Michelle Larkin, Beth Lindsay and Vanessa Temple all scoring in the 22-10 win.
Temple has opened the season as the side's top try scorer with seven, whilst she is also one of eleven players who has played all seven games so far in all competitions.
