Rematch with Saints awaits Rhinos Under-18s this Saturday

After the Men's and Women's sides play at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday night, Leeds Rhinos Under-18s Academy also make the trip to Merseyside to take on St Helens Under-18s at the same venue on Saturday afternoon, kick off 1pm.

Saturday's game is the second meeting this year between the two recent Academy Grand Final winners, after Saints snatched a 32-22 victory at Stanningley in the opening game of the season. Since then, the Rhinos endured tough results against Castleford and Wigan at AMT Headingley before hitting a winning run that saw them beat Hull FC 30-22, thanks to a late try from Joe Diskin, and score 11 tries against Wakefield in a 62-12 win inspired by half back George Brown.

Saints on the other hand have won two of their last three games since taking the two points away from Stanningley. A missed conversion from George Whitby was the difference in a 12-10 loss to Wigan at Ruskin Park, but they bounced back to beat Warrington 26-12 on the road. Last time out half back Harry Robertson was on hand to score four times in a 72-6 outing against Castleford at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle, as the half back contributed to a 14 try haul.

Last time the Rhinos visited the Totally Wicked Stadium during last season, they couldn't come away with a similar result to their Grand Final win the year before. Two tries from Ben Littlewood plus other scores from Fergus McCormack and Harrison Gilmore put tries on the board for Tony Smith's side, whilst a hat trick from Owen Dagnall got the points for the home side.

Now at the halfway stage of this campaign, the young Rhinos hope to continue their good form ahead of three consecutive home matches against Huddersfield, Castleford and Hull KR in June and July. Saints on the other hand continue their own run of home matches against the Giants and Bradford until the end of June, before an away trip to Hull KR sets up a run of fixtures against Warrington, Wigan and Hull FC who will be vying for a top-four finish along with Leeds.
