Rhinos Rewind: London Broncos

Ahead of Leeds Rhinos and London going head to head on Friday night, we've gone into the archives to pull out a clash for the ages between the two clubs, and a player that represented both the Broncos and Rhinos during their careers.

Take a look...

Classic Clash

A resounding 64-6 result in 2005 is Leeds' largest win against London to date as the reigning Super League champions continued their bright start to the season.

Eight different try scorers contributed to a 13-try performance for the Rhinos, with Marcus Bai leading the scoring as the PNG international crossed for a hat trick. Danny McGuire, Richie Mathers and Keith Senior added two tries each too as Tony Smith's side kept the pressure on St Helens at the top of the league table.

Played for both - Andy Ackers

Prior to joining the Rhinos for the 2024 season, hooker Andy Ackers played two seasons at London between 2016 and 2017.

Ackers switched Swinton for London as the Broncos pushed for promotion back to Super League in 2016 and scored eight tries in 28 appearances in his debut season. He also featured in the Qualifers campaign, scoring two tries, as London missed out on the Million Pound Game only on points difference.

A year later, he was a pivotal player at helping the Broncos finish second in the table, but once again the Qualifiers proved a stumbling point as the club managed one win and a draw. As the end of the season, Ackers announced his move to Toronto, bringing his time in the capital to an end.
