Loan Watch: Four Rhinos feature in busy Championship weekend

The Easter weekend saw four Leeds Rhinos players feature on loan and dual registration at Betfred Championship sides Halifax Panthers, York RLFC Knights and Doncaster as they got valuable game minutes away from the club.
Find out how they got on...
Tom Nicholson-Watton
Sunday afternoon saw York RLFC Knights battle it out against Toulouse Olympique as both sides looked for their first win of the new season, but it was Toulouse that came out on top at the LNER Community Stadium.
Leeds' Tom Nicholson-Watton came off the bench for Andrew Henderson's side as he made his second appearance since joining the Knights on a month-long loan, but the loose forward couldn't help the home side get passed their French opposition as the forward made six carries, 18 tackles and one tackle break in 27 minutes.
Olympique took the upper hand with two tries from Maxime Stefani in the first 23 minutes, before Guy Armitage extended the lead before the break. York hit back in the final ten minutes with three tries, but it was too little too late as the Knights continue their search for their first win.
Leon Ruan
Forward Leon Ruan returned to Doncaster for the first time since leaving the club to sign for Leeds in 2023 as the Dons took on Sheffield Eagles at the Eco-Power Stadium.
Having both started the season with wins, a close 26-20 contest was decided by Matty Dawson-Jones' try on 64 minutes and a penalty goal from Corey Aston as the Eagles continued their winning start. Ruan, playing the first game of his month-long loan spell, featured for 56 minutes, during which he made 4 carries, 16 tackles and a tackle break.
Jack Smith and Kieran Hudson
Friday's Championship fixtures concluded with Halifax Panthers taking on Bradford Bulls at Odsal, and dual registration pair Jack Smith and Kieran Hudson were in action for Liam Finn's side in the 29-10 defeat.
Centre Smith partnered Greg Eden on the edge and played the full eighty minutes, whilst Kieran Hudson started at prop as both players got experience away from the Rhinos. After conceding a try early on, Hudson almost hit back for the Panthers on 11 minutes. The prop left the field through injury three minutes later, whilst Smith went on to make five carries, one tackle break and 11 tackles.
Despite back-to-back tries from Matty Gee and James Woodburn-Hall in the first half, the home side ran away with the result in the second half with tries from Max Wood and Zac Fulton, as well as a drop goal from Jordan Lilley.
