Robins next up in the Cup for Rhinos Women

Leeds Rhinos Women look to build on their winning start in the 2024 Betfred Women's Challenge Cup as Lois Forsell's side takes on Hull KR in their second group game at Sewell Group Craven Park on Sunday afternoon, kick off 2pm.

Last week's opening clash against Leigh Leopards saw the Rhinos kick off their season in style as Zoe Hornby led the try scoring in a 52-6 result. All five of the club's newest faces (Shona Hoyle, Grace Field, Olivia Whitehead, Ella Donnelly and Beth MacMillan) made their club debuts, with Hoyle and Whitehead marking their first Rhinos appearance with tries, as Forsell's side begin their road to Wembley.

Following their win over the Leopards, the Rhinos extended their winning run in Challenge Cup group games to seven, having won every group game from the last two seasons. This week's opponents Hull KR are also the 11th different team that the Rhinos have faced in the competition since they entered in 2018.

Sunday will also be the first meeting between the Rhinos and Hull KR in history as the Robins host their first Cup game of the season. Headed up by Ben Parker, the side has risen through the ranks from League One in 2019 to be promoted to the Championship as they beat Dewsbury Moor 28-16 in the promotion final. Last season saw the club have its best season to date when they won 18 out of 20 Championship games as they went on to claim the Championship Grand Final trophy.

The Robins' 2023 Cup campaign saw them lose all three group games against Leigh Leopards, York Valkyrie and Barrow Raiders, and this year's competition started with a tough test against Huddersfield last weekend. With games against the Rhinos and Leopards remaining, they will hope to challenge for a spot to get through to the knockout round.
