As Leeds Rhinos prepare to head west to take on St Helens on Friday night, take a look back at a classic clash between the clubs, as well as a player who has played in both Leeds and Saints colours.

Classic Clash

Not many games, or results, get larger than Leeds' 70-0 win over St Helens when the two sides met in 2004.

Having lost on the road to Saints earlier in the season, Tony Smith's Rhinos returned to AMT Headingley and produced one of their best performances of the season to score twelve tries. Danny McGuire and Marcus Bai were standouts with hat tricks (McGuire's all coming in the first half) plus Wayne McDonald scored a brace against his former side.

Legend in Focus -  Wayne McDonald

More known for his time at Leeds than in the Red Vee, prop Wayne McDonald joined the Rhinos in 2002 and was part of the squad when the club claimed Grand Final and World Club titles in 2004 and 2005. His Rhinos career also saw him score one of the competition's most memorable tries as he ran the length of the field in 2003 against his former club.

Before joining the Rhinos, the prop played a handful of games for St Helens in 2001, scoring five tries in 20 appearances.

Be at AMT Headingley next Friday night to see the Rhinos take on St Helens in round four of the Betfred Super League, kick off 8pm.

The match will see the Rhinos celebrate the life and career of Lewis Jones as two heavyweights of the Super League competition go head to head.
