Gannon set for three month lay off

Leeds Rhinos Head Coach Rohan Smith has confirmed that young forward Morgan Gannon will be sidelined for three months following a head injury suffered in the final pre-season game.

Gannon was taken from the field in the game against Hull KR on 4th February and had a similar rest period last season.

Smith commented, “Following expert advice, Morgan will have a three month lay off before he begins the return to play process. Fortunately, he has had no prolonged symptoms on this occasion but after back to back head injuries, this was to be expected.

“He is training great but with no contact until further notice. I am sure it is frustrating for him but we are all totally in support of the process that he will go through to take care of his health. He is a 20 year old man who has everything in front of him as a player and a person. In the grand scheme of things, three months is a short period in his career but as I am sure as it is happening now, it will be a challenge for him. Our whole club will support him and take care of him in every perspective.”
