Rhinos Rewind: Hull KR

As the Rhinos prepare to head over the Sewell Group Craven Park on Thursday night to take on Hull KR live on Sky Sports, let's take a look back at a classic clash between the clubs, as well as a player that is renowned for playing in both Leeds and Hull KR colours.

Classic Clash

Leeds made the trip to East Yorkshire in round three of the 2009 Super League season as the Rhinos started the new campaign unbeaten.

With a World Club Challenge test against Manly Sea Eagles looming, Brian McClennan's side managed to edge out the Robins on a tough night at Craven Park. A close contest left the game in the balance going into the final ten minutes, but a break by Ryan Bailey set the away side up for the winning score from young centre Kallum Watkins.

Legend in Focus - Chev Walker

Local talent Chev Walker first came onto the scene in 1999 with Leeds and became one of the players from the club's academy that helped the club establish a golden generation. He claimed his first silverware in 2004 when he was an integral part of Leeds’ Grand Final winning squad and was also a try scorer as Leeds were crowned World Club Champions for the first time in 2005.

Despite a move to Rugby Union at the start of 2007, he returned to League and had two seasons in Robins colours from 2008 to the end of 2009. During that period, he made 31 appearances before fracturing his leg in a 44-8 playoff loss to Leeds. After retiring with Bradford in 2015, he moved back to the Rhinos where he is currently an assistant coach under Rohan Smith.
