Next Up: Hull KR

Round two sees the Rhinos go on the road for the first time in 2024 as Rohan Smith's side travel east to take on Hull KR at Sewell Group Craven Park on Thursday night, kick off 8pm.

Here's a preview ahead of the fixture:

Our opposition

The Robins laid down the marker for the season in a bruising 22-0 win over cross-city rivals Hull FC in the opening game of the Betfred Super League season. Despite the continuous rain throughout the game, Willie Peters' side brushed off the conditions to run in five tries through new boys Kelepi Tanginoa and Niall Evalds on their club debuts (Evalds doing so twice) alongside Matt Parcell and Mikey Lewis. The result also meant that Hull KR have now won four of their last five meetings with the black and whites.

Entering this season off the back of being knocked out of the race for the Grand Final at the semi-final stage and missing out on the Challenge Cup by one point in 2023, the Robins are looking to continue their perfect start to this season with the visit of the Rhinos on Thursday night. The two sides met during pre-season in James Donaldson's Testimonial match, which the Rhinos won 26-18, but with new signings now embedded and the season truly now underway, results are key for both clubs.

Super League head to head

Previous Super League Meetings at Sewell Group Craven Park

2023

Tough conditions got the better of the Rhinos in the early stages of last season as the Robins claimed a 20-12 win over Smith's side. Luis Roberts and James McDonnell got their first tries in Rhinos colours, but it was a disappointing evening for the visitors.

2022

Leeds travelled to the east coast on the back of three consecutive wins with five games to go in the regular season, and Rohan Smith's side continued their ascent up the league table with a 28-20 win.

Morgan Gannon led the scoring with two second half tries, along with two more from Richie Myler and one from Brad Dwyer.

2021

As the 2021 season kicked off without crowds due to the Covid pandemic, the Rhinos lost out to the Robins in round four 26-6 on the road. Brad Dwyer was the sole try scorer for the Rhinos, who were 16-0 down early doors, and even though Luke Briscoe was inches away from adding a second Leeds try, it was the home side that took away the spoils.
