Leeds Rhinos star Rhyse Martin suffered defeat on his return to the Papua New Guinea national side as Fiji produced an impressive display in the Pacific Championship clash in Port Moresby.
Martin missed the Kumuls opening pool win over the Cook Islands but returned to the second row for Justin Holbrook's side to face Fiji. Martin finished as top tackler in the game with 30 tackles ahead former Rhinos team mate, King Vuniyayawa in the Fiji side with 29. Martin kicked two conversions from three attempts but Fiji were good value for their 43-16 win.
The Kumuls and Bati will meet again next Sunday to battle it out for the Pacific Cup final. Fiji will be hoping to welcome back Sunia Turuva after the premiership-winning winger was sidelined with a calf injury.
