Rhinos to face Trinity in Wetherby Whaler Festive Challenge

Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity will meet on Boxing Day at AMT Headingley Rugby Stadium after both clubs confirmed the annual Wetherby Whaler Festive Challenge, kick off 11.30am.  

It will be the 20^th year that two clubs have met in the annual challenge and it could be the only meeting between the old West Yorkshire rivals this season following Wakefield’s relegation to the Championship for 2024. 

Junior tickets for this game are just £5 both in advance on and the day whilst members can pre-purchase their ticket from £17 per person. 

Tickets for the Wetherby Whaler Festive Challenge 2023 will be available to purchase online at tickets.therhinos.co.uk from 9am on Thursday 26^th October and over the phone on 0371 423 1315 and from Leeds Rhinos Club Shop from 10am.

Seating and standing positions of Rhinos 2023 Season Members will be held until midnight on Monday 20^th November. As this match is technically still part of the Rhinos 2023 season, the seats on hold are the 2023 season member’s seats. 

The member’s discount is £3 off the general match ticket price for adults and concessions and is available to Rhinos 2023 Season Members / Rhinos 2023 Flexi Members / Rhinos 2023 Supporter Members. This discount will also be available for new members who purchase a 2024 Season, Flexi or Supporter Membership before the discount deadline.

This is valid until midnight the day before the game (please be aware this will be online if Club Shop and Ticket Office Phone Lines are closed) and can be collected on match day or received as print at home tickets which can be either printed off or used on mobile phones at the turnstiles on match day (smartphones only). 

Leeds playing on Boxing Day dates back to the very first season at Headingley back in 1890 when Leeds took on Batley. Before the advent of summer rugby, Leeds and Wakefield have met on 27 occasions on the feast of St Stephen with 21 of those games taking place at Headingley. In the Super League era, the game as become an annual challenge event with Leeds and Wakefield having played each other every year, apart from 2020 due to the Covid pandemic, since 2004. Wakefield won last year’s challenge at Headingley 38-20 however the Rhinos have eleven wins from the previous 18 games. 

Rhinos 2023 and 2024 Season, Flexi and Supporter Members can purchase additional tickets for family and friends and receive the member’s discount on those tickets too. This is available on all seated and standing tickets and will be valid until midnight on Monday 20^th November which is the same day all Season Member’s seating and standing positions will be released for general sale. Members must log in using their current membership details and the discount will automatically be applied at the checkout.

Tickets at the members price will be available online until midnight the day before the game (please be aware this will be online if Club Shop and Ticket Office Phone Lines are closed) and can be collected on match day or done as Smartphone / Print at Home tickets. On match day all ticket prices will be general ticket price.
