Job Opportunity: Leeds Rhinos Assistant Physiotherapist (Academy Lead) (F/T)
Leeds Rhinos are recruiting for a full time Assistant Physiotherapist to work with their Academy.
Location; Bartercard Training Complex and various, North of England
Salary; Competitive, based on previous experience.
Reporting to: Head of Medical Services, Performance Director and Head Physiotherapist
Leeds Rhinos is looking for an experienced physio to provide world-class player care and support as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Leading in the diagnosis, treatment and management of all physiotherapy care for Leeds Rhinos Academy and 1st team players.
Essential Requirements:
- Detailed knowledge of rugby league or team sports at an elite level.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a professional sporting environment with experience of player treatment and management at a professional level.
- Practical experience in the provision of muscular-skeletal and soft tissue manual therapy techniques.
- Some knowledge of applied sports science, sports programming and conditioning.
- Some experience in the design and implementation of individual rehabilitation pathways.
- Ability to communicate to a high standard in both written and oral formats.
- Computer literate.
Principle duties/ activities:
- Carry out all the duties and responsibilities which may reasonably be required to deliver the services to the highest professional standard commensurate with your involvement in elite sport.
- Ensure the medical needs of the players are being met through regular monitoring and evaluation of key physical markers.
- Lead player medical clinics, rehabilitation programmes and treatment providing written feedback reports on athlete progressions at academy level
- Support player medical clinics, rehabilitation programmes and treatment providing written feedback reports on athlete progressions at 1st team level
- Maintain accurate databases of all medical records, injury history and treatment protocol using centralised club databases.
- As required ensure all relevant players pre-participation paperwork is submitted prior to commencing training or registration and relevant pre-signing medicals are conducted and recorded.
- Maintain and comply to club and RFL injury, training and participation surveillance recording
- Attend regular staff meetings and provide medical input to facilitate discussion and consequently decision making around training, fitness testing, medical procedures, mobility programmes and squad member’s fitness/health.
- Liaise with all coaching, management sports science and medical staff (including medical, strength & conditioners and masseurs) as necessary.
- Manage the delivery of player preparation (strapping & otherwise) for both training and games on a daily, weekly and seasonal basis.
- Be prepared to attend and support on-going staff CPD both internal and external
- Be prepared to attend specialist list referral appointments when required.
- Maintain a good working relationship with all key personnel, colleagues and players as well as outside organisations in order to support and promote the club’s needs.
- A qualification at degree (or equivalent) in sports physiotherapy or sport and exercise medicine.
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Have appropriate sporting medical insurance or professional indemnity and provide written confirmation of this.
- Hold current RFL’s mandatory IMMOFP qualification or equivalent.
