Flashback: Catalans Dragons

In the build-up to this weekend's clash between the Rhinos and Dragons, take a look back at some classic past Super League encounters and notable names that have played for both clubs:
Previous matches
The classic
A mega second half got Leeds out of a hole in 2008 as the Rhinos got their second ever away win against Catalans.
A double from Danny McGuire, plus scores from Ryan Hall, Ali Lauitiiti and Scott Donald helped the visitors to victory, as well as a drop goal from Kevin Sinfield.
The comeback
Late tries from Rob Burrow and Danny McGuire helped the Rhinos to a 30-24 win over Catalans during 2017.
Although the Dragons ran into a three try lead, the visitors to the Stade Gilbert Brutus stayed in the fight for the whole 80 minutes and got their reward when McGuire crashed over as time expired.
The last meeting
Leeds' last trip to Perpignan came in the Play Offs as the Rhinos claimed a 20-10 result.
Liam Sutcliffe scored all three of Leeds' tries, whilst the Dragons' ill-discipline saw Steve McNamara's side lose Michael McIlorum and Mitchell Pearce twice to the sin bin and Gil Dudson was also sent off on a night to forget for the home side.
Connections
During the Super League era, there are plenty of players and coaches that have been part of both Leeds and Catalans teams down the years. Here are just a few that you might remember...
Paul Aiton - Hooker Aiton was brought to Leeds as part of a swap deal and was a great addition to the team between 2014 and 2015. The PNG international signed for Catalans in 2016 and spent three seasons under Laurent Frayssinous and Steve McNamara.
Luke Burgess - Coming through the club’s Academy from Dewsbury Moor, prop Luke Burgess made his Super League debut for Leeds against Castleford in 2008 and went on to lift the Grand Final trophy in 2009. Joining the Dragons in 2017, his time in the South of France was short-lived, thanks to a season-ending knee injury.
Richie Myler - Leaving Warrington to join Catalans in 2016, Myler played two seasons in Perpignan, during which time he helped the club survive relegation in 2017. He switched to Leeds in 2018 and has made over 100 appearances for the Rhinos.
Brent Webb - Brent Webb made the switch to join Leeds, where he played for five seasons and was a key figure in the Rhinos’ squad. He lifted three Grand Final titles during his time at the club, before switching to the Dragons where he played ten games over two years.
