An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Disability and Inclusion Officer to join Leeds Rhinos Foundation and help grow the inclusivity of our sport.

Leeds Rhinos Foundation aims to change lives through sport and this individual will have the opportunity to do just that. Leeds Rhinos Foundation is the charity arm of the Leeds Rhinos, in which we have the ethos of ‘One Club’ across all our sporting sectors. 

Job Description

Job Title: Disability and Inclusion Officer

Salary: Competitive

Location: Headingley Stadium, St Michaels Lane, Leeds, LS6 3BR Various bases across Leeds

Hours of work: Full time, 40hrs per week

Responsibility to: Disability and Inclusion Coordinator

Contractual Status: Annual (1 year fixed)

Purpose of the role

To coach and deliver high quality physical activity and sporting programmes aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of people with physical and learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

The delivery of physical activity and health sessions to adults with disabilities with foundation social care partners.

Leading the delivery of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation Learning Disability Super League activities.

Delivery of an agreed upon curriculum within Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres.

Delivery and support to other areas of the Foundations Inclusion Offer: Physical Disability Rugby League, Wheelchair Rugby League and Inclusive Volunteering.

Supporting the delivery of wider Foundation areas when required; Schools Development, Health and Wellbeing, Rugby League Development and Events.

For the above, responsibilities within the delivery would include:

To deliver coaching sessions that are participant-centred, structured, progressive, fun and of high quality to people of all ages and abilities.

To adapt sessions to cater for different ranges of age, ability and disability considerations.

The structured planning for each activity session to ensure the programme demonstrates accessibility, progression and is meaningful.

Flexibility to work weekends and evenings where required.

To continually monitor and evaluate all sessions, activities and programmes (including inputting data on UPSHOT and other data collection methods).

To ensure all equipment associated with the coaching programme is correctly set up, maintained, stored and returned on completion of the coaching activities.

To be familiar and comply with health and safety regulations and to undertake activity/venue risk assessments prior to all sessions, and record and report incidents/accidents/hazards.

To respect the rights of all participants and ensure that their well-being and safety are always considered.

To maintain appropriate boundaries when dealing with participants, volunteers and other members of the coaching workforce.

To take responsibility for ensuring that relevant coaching and CPD qualifications are kept up to date.


An appropriate degree is preferred but not essential. 

Level 2 Multi Skills and/or Rugby League Level 2 coaching qualification. 

Safeguarding, First Aid, Enhanced DBS. 

A driving license and access to a vehicle. 


Experience of working with children and/or adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. 

Experience of Sports coaching. 

Experience of leading events. 

Have the knowledge and understanding of how data can be used to improve outcomes. 

Understand equality and diversity. 

Be a competent user of IT – specifically Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Forms. 


Ability to Influence and facilitate change. 

Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in the workplace. 

Ability to work independently and as part of team, developing a collaborative way of working. 

Have excellent inter-personal skills & communicate effectively. 

Organised, prompt and be sufficiently prepared.  

Challenge, motivate, engage and sustain the interest of participants and others. 

Understanding of local funding streams.
