Rhinos Women back in Super League action on Sunday

This Sunday sees Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves make history when the two clubs meet for the first time in the Betfred Women's Super League. Victoria Park plays host to this weekend's fixture, kick off 2pm, which is an important one looking at the league position of both sides.

The Rhinos have were successful in the Nines competition last week, lifting the Nines trophy at the AJ Bell Stadium and have also booked their place in the in the Betfred Women's Challenge Cup semi final.  In the league, Lois Forsell's side has one win out of three games. An 80-0 triumph over Huddersfield Giants came between defeats to York and St Helens at Headingley; the latter seeing Caitlin Casey, Amy Hardcastle and Eloise Hayward score tries in a 38-18 result.

With a host of young players, such as half back Casey, outside back Ruby Enright, forwards Mayzi Carter and Izzy Northrop plus new signing Bella Sykes, continuing to develop, the recent Nines Finals and Cup quarter-final win has given the side a lift in recent weeks. Enright capped a debut to remember with two tries in the 54-0 win over Leigh at Headingley, before scoring four tries in the Nines tournament.

A busy July awaits for the Rhinos as they look to climb out of fifth place in the table. Three consecutive away trips in the league to Warrington, Wigan and York is followed at the end of the month with a clash against the Warriors for a place in the Betfred Women's Challenge Cup Final at Wembley. Tickets can be bought here for the semi final at Headingley.

Warrington have enjoyed a bright start to their debut season in Super League Group 1 after winning all twelve games in Super League Group 2 last year. Out of their opening three fixtures this season, Lee Westwood's side salvaged a draw against Wigan in round one, thanks to a late score from Danielle Bound, before losing out 44-4 against the Valkyrie. A 32-24 win over Huddersfield though helped the Wolves to fourth place in the table.

They were also involved in last week's Nines Finals, but losses in the group stages to Leeds and Wigan saw the Wolves drop out.
