Women's U19s captain promoted to first team

Leeds Rhinos Women have promoted their U19s captain Ruby Enright to the first team squad ahead of this Saturday’s Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup game against Leigh.

Enright, who can play wing and full-back, joined the Rhinos aged 15 after impressing with her community club Dewsbury Moor, but she suffered an ACL injury in 2020 which has kept her out of the game until the start of this season. Her form this year for the U19s has seen her score nine tries in three games to earn a place in Lois Forsell’s Super League squad.

Speaking about being promoted, Enright said: “I’m buzzing that all my hard work has finally paid off and I can’t wait to be more involved with the first team.
“I have been out for two years with an ACL injury and have been back a couple of months now so it was a long rehab. I have worked hard to get back and I feel in good shape and like it was before.”

Leeds Rhinos Women head coach Lois Forsell added: “I am proud of Ruby, she had a real tough time with injury just before Covid which meant surgery was delayed but she has been really good since she got back to playing games for the Academy and has been a leader within that team. She is a talented athlete and rugby player.

“We know she needs to be in this environment to push herself to be the very best. Ruby will feature this season for us and is going to be a great asset. She has worked hard, was resilient and has just kept going and the character that you show when you are at your toughest point is true to yourself, she never moaned or gave up.”
