Local school gets visit from Rhinos stars

Earlier this week Rhinos stars Jarrod O’Connor and James Bentley visited Tadcaster Primary Academy to help deliver the clubs Team Work and Inclusivity assembly, followed by teaching children from year 5 and 6 some Rugby League skills.
The children at the school were able to hear from Jarrod and James on the importance of values within a team, and how they are promoted throughout the club.
Rhinos Schools and Engagement Lead Ian Wilson said,
“We have had some great feedback from schools on our Team Work and Inclusivity assembly and we were pleased to visit Tadcaster Primary Academy to deliver our messages to the children. Being joined by Jarrod and James only enhanced this as they were able to talk to the children about how important it is to be a team player in order to be successful”.
Steve Jeff, PE Coach at Tadcaster Primary Academy was full of praise for the visit and said,
“It was a fantastic experience to have Leeds Rhinos come and deliver the assembly and PE lesson to our children at Tadcaster. The assembly was very engaging and informative and spoke about important topics such as inclusion and teamwork. The children loved learning new rugby skills and rules in their PE lesson, even more so in the presence of two of the Leeds Rhinos first team players. We really appreciate the players giving up their time to come and meet the children, they were fantastic role models and even showed us how to do some of the skills and activities”.
Caroline Towler, Headteacher at Tadcaster Primary Academy added,
“What a memorable morning this was for both the children and adults at Tadcaster Primary Academy. We really enjoyed our visit from Leeds Rhinos who delivered a powerful whole school assembly and led an exciting rugby skills session with our Year 5/6 pupils. The children were really inspired by the messages from Ian Wilson and players Jarrod O’ Connor and James Bentley. The themes discussed closely aligned with our school motto of Belong, Believe, Achieve. Learning about inclusivity and team work had a real impact on our whole team. Thank you to Leeds Rhinos for inspiring us to be the best we can be”.
Children and families from Tadcaster Primary Academy will be joining us at next month’s match against St Helens where they will get to see both the Rhinos men’s and women’s team in action as part of the double header. For tickets visit tickets.therhinos.co.uk
