Don't miss Leeds Rhinos Women in Cup quarter final action this weekend

Leeds Rhinos Women can take a step closer to the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Final on Sunday afternoon as Lois Forsell’s side take on Warrington Wolves in the quarter finals at Sports Park, Weetwood, kick off 2pm.

The Rhinos capped off their group stage games with a resounding 92-0 win over Leigh Miners Rangers Women last weekend, ensuring that they also finished top of group B. It’s been a positive campaign for Forsell’s side so far but on Sunday, they meet a Wolves side that proved resilient when the two sides met during pre season.

Warrington finished second in group A behind Cup holders St Helens. Lee Westwood’s side recorded their biggest win of the current Cup campaign against the Army in their opening game before a tighter 36-16 win over Barrow Raiders ensured the Wolves booked a spot in the quarter finals as one of the top two. They couldn’t overcome Saints on home soil though, Carrie Roberts running in four tries in a 54-0 result.

Sunday’s game is the second time that the two clubs have met in the Challenge Cup. Back in 2019, on their way to retaining the Cup, Leeds recorded a 74-0 win to reach the semi finals; Fran Goldthorp and Courtney Winfield-Hill leading the try scoring with three tries a piece. Winfield-Hill also added nine goals to record a personal points tally of 30, while Caitlin Beevers, Char Booth, Chloe Kerrigan, Sophie Robinson and Hanna Butcher also crossed twice.
