What’s going on where this Sunday
Our Family Day is packed full of entertainment, animals, freebies and of course Rugby League this Sunday, as we’re inviting all families to come and enjoy an afternoon at the stadium.
With so much going on, you won’t want to miss a thing, so here’s a guide to what you can find around the ground as soon as gates open at 12pm:
Double header Rugby League – On Pitch
Get ready for back to back Rugby League action as both our men’s and women’s teams take to the field in another exciting double header. For the same price as your usual match ticket, get down to Headingley early to see Lois Forsell’s side take on the reigning Women’s Super League Champions St Helens in one of the games of the season at 12:30pm, before Rohan Smith’s Rhinos and Paul Rowley’s Salford Red Devils clash as the fight for the Play Offs continues.
Star Wars characters – South Stand and Courtyard
We’ll be joined on match day by everyone’s favourite villain Darth Vader and Han Solo’s number one sidekick Chewbacca as all your favourite Star Wars characters descend on the South Stand and Courtyard areas. Decide if you’re going to join the Jedi Knights or the Stormtroopers and make sure you grab a quick selfie too!
Animal Club – South Stand
For the more daring fans, get up close and personal with some weird and wonderful creatures at our Animal Club section.
Found in the South Stand, get your hands on a range of different lizards, amphibians and more, including bearded dragons, corn snakes, frogs and more.
Turnip the Triceratops – South Stand car park
Look out for Turnip the Triceratops making his first appearance at Headingley too!
Roaming around the South Stand car park, make sure you’ve got your cameras ready (we don’t think you’ll be able to miss him either!).
Birds of Prey – Courtyard
Make your way round to the courtyard where York Birds of Prey will have a range of birds on show. Including owls, hawks, and so many more, they are a must see outside the Headingley Lodge.
Guide Dogs – South Stand car park and courtyard
We’re thrilled to also be joined by our neighbours at Hope Pasture, who will be bringing ponies and donkeys for fans to meet and promote the valuable work the charity does to re-habilitate and re-home horses, ponies, and donkeys in need, as well as Guide Dogs UK, who are raising money for the vital work the charity does to provide life-changing services for those who are registered blind or partially sighted. Please give generously as you enter the turnstiles.
Bannatyne – South Stand
Our club partner Bannatynes will also be in the South Stand giving away discounts to Rhinos fans.
As usual, there will also be balloon modellers and face painters, as well as a Bubbleologist, which will be based between the South Stand and Courtyard.
