Last Magic Weekend Clash

When the Magic Weekend returned in 2021, after the festival was cancelled in 2020, Castleford opened the Saturday fixtured with a clash against Salford.

Peter Mata’utia ran the show for the Tigers with a try and five goals in a superb individual performance, while Paul McShane, Daniel Smith, Oliver Holmes and Jordan Turner also crossed the try line before Turner’s drop goal sealed an important win.

Ken Sio, Joe Burgess and Ata Hingano responded for the Red Devils, who came into the weekend full of confidence, as Richard Marshall’s side bowed out of the Play Off picture.

Last Meeting vs Leeds at Magic Weekend

Leeds and Castleford last clashed at Magic Weekend in 2018 as the Tigers took away a convincing 38-10 result.

Having lost their matchup earlier in the season by one point, the Rhinos couldn’t avenge the result as Daryl Powell’s Tigers proved too strong. Young prop Mikolaj Oledzki wowed the crowd as he made an impressive solo break to score one of the tries of the season, while Brett Ferres could only manage Leeds’ other try at St James’ Park.
