Under-16s travel to Wakefield on Wednesday night

It’s been over a month since their last match but Leeds Rhinos Under-16s are back in action this Wednesday night as Mark Butterill’s side travel the short distance to take on Wakefield Trinity Under-16s at the Be Well Support Stadium, kick off 7pm.

Despite starting the season with back to back defeats to St Helens and Warrington Wolves, the young Rhinos hit some form in Spring as they scored eleven tries against local rivals Bradford in a convincing 60-0 win. They then backed it up with ten more tries against Hull KR on the road; top try scorers Lloyd McEwan-Peters and Harry Taylor both extending their try tallies for the season to four with a try each. McEwan-Peters was recently a try scorer for Wales as they defeated England Community Lions 22-14.

Wakefield Trinity have had mixed fortunes in the three games that they have played. Opening the new year with a 34-all draw with neighbours Castleford Tigers, Mark Applegarth’s side then produced a 58-14 display against Hull FC. Like Leeds though, they were undone by Warrington Wolves last time out and will be out to get back to winning ways against the Rhinos.
