Saints suffered their first defeat of the 2022 season as Toulouse Olympique produced a surprise 22-20 win a fortnight ago.

A quick start saw both sides score two tries inside the first twenty minutes (Josh Simm and Tommy Makinson scoring for the Red V) before Jack Welsby added a third try to make the score 14-12 to the visitors at the break. Even though Dan Norman got the second half scoring underway for St Helens, the match shifted towards Toulouse who scored twice in the final fifteen minutes to claim a two point win.
