Tom Briscoe: Career in Numbers

This Sunday sees Leeds Rhinos faced Hull FC at Headingley Stadium for Tom Briscoe’s Testimonial, kick off 3pm.

The clubs are coming together to celebrate Briscoe’s achievements and contributions, which began at Hull in 2008. Following six strong seasons in black and white, the England international arrived at Leeds and won trophies, plus he broke a few records.

Tom Briscoe made his Leeds debut in 2014. After six seasons at Hull FC, the winger made the move to the Rhinos and marked his debut with a hat trick against Hull KR.

Briscoe has featured in five Challenge Cup Finals over the course of his career. At Hull FC, he featured at Wembley for the first time in 2008 before the winger ran out in the Cup Final again five years later. He claimed his first Cup final win in his debut season for the Rhinos in 2014 and a year later, he wrote his name in the record books with five tries in a 50-0 win over Hull KR. He also opened the scoring in the 2020 final, which saw the Rhinos beat Salford.

2022 will be Briscoe's 15th season in Super League. Since his debut for Hull in 2008, he spent six years in black and white before his transfer to the Rhinos. So far he has made almost 200 appearances in blue and amber over eight years.

Briscoe made his debut for England in only his second season as a professional player in 2009. After a big season for Hull alongside Kirk Yeaman, Briscoe was called up to represent his country by Tony Smith and scored two tries in his first game against Wales. He also played in two games in that year's Four Nations competition.

The winger proved a lethal weapon for Hull FC during his time at the club. He amassed 360 points between 2008 and 2013, which is 90 tries.

During his time at Leeds, Briscoe has played in two Grand Finals and also scored a total of two tries. The 2015 treble showdown between Leeds and Wigan was the winger's first experience of Old Trafford and then in 2017, he scored two tries in a 24-6 win over Castleford Tigers.

While at Leeds, Briscoe scored his highest number of tries in a single season in 2018. Despite the Rhinos struggling on the field, the winger led the club in try scoring with 18 tries (three more than his next best season tally), plus it also earned him the fans player of the year award at the end of the season.

After seven years of wearing the number two shirt at Leeds, Tom will revert back to shirt number 20 for the upcoming season. It is the same number that the winger wore when he first arrived at the Rhinos, as Ben Jones-Bishop wore number two at the time.

A stellar season at Hull FC in 2011 saw Briscoe earn an appearance in Super League's Dream Team. He scored 21 tries that season and was joined by Hull team mate Yeaman in the squad.

Over a four year spell at international level, Briscoe scored 11 tries for his country. He represented England in one World Cup, three Four Nations competitions, two Exile series' and one Autumn series from 2009 to 2013 and notably scored two of his 11 tries in the at his home World Cup.
