Leeds Rhinos prop Tom Holroyd will be ruled out of action for 12 weeks after suffering an ankle injury in the second half of Sunday’s pre-season win at Featherstone Rovers and will have surgery next Tuesday to repair the injury.

Rhinos Head Coach Richard Agar confirmed the need for an operation on Thursday. He commented, “We are looking at a 12 week rehabilitation period after the operation for Tom before he can play again. Although we are pretty confident if the surgery is successful we might be able to shave a couple of weeks off that. It is tough on Tom. He suffered a crack in his leg in pre-season last year which restricted him at the start of 2021. It is a difficult one for him because he had been travelling great in pre-season and he has suffered this in his first hit out. We are definitely going to miss him but we are looking at Round 6 or 7 for him to be back, if all goes to plan. He will have the best medical support and we will all get round him to support him.”
