Trials for Women’s Academy

Leeds Rhinos Women are running trials for players aged 16-19 to join their Academy. The trials will be run at the club’s Kirkstall Training Groun on Monday 29th November, 6.30pm-8pm.

The Academy has already produced a number of players for the first team including England internationals Fran Goldthorp and Caitlin Beevers. In last year’s squad twelve players had emerged from the Academy – ten of which played in the Super League Grand Final.

Leeds Rhinos Women’s head coach Lois Forsell said: “I am so pleased to see how the women’s game is progressing and gaining wider recognition. You could see just how much the game had grown when a record crowd watched the Grand Final at Emerald Headingley earlier this year.

“When we started our club one of our ambitions was to bring through home grown talent from our Academy and I am proud of how many girls have graduated from our Academy system to represent the Rhinos. There are more girls than ever playing the game thanks to the great work being doing in community clubs and hopefully more will be inspired to play and then aspire to play in Super League.

“There’s lots of talented players in the city who I know will thrive in our Pathway and I am looking forward to the trials and hopefully discovering the next generation of Rhinos stars.”
