Rhinos Netball to take on Champions in first game of new season

Leeds Rhinos Netball will begin their 2022 season against reigning Vitality Netball Superleague Champions Loughborough Lightning on 6th February, in the Season Opener weekend at Resorts World Birmingham.

The opening weekend will see all 11 clubs feature in a jam-packed weekend of 10 games of netball. The Rhinos will start the second day off against Lightning and tickets are now on sale for Rhinos fans via an exclusive link sent to their emails before the tickets go on general sale on Monday 8th November.

The ‘Season Opener’ (Round One and Round Two of the season) will see all games televised on Sky Sports channels and live streamed on Sky Sports YouTube across the weekend.

The Rhinos’ first home game will be against last year’s semi-finalists Team Bath on 14th February before away games against Celtic Dragons and Surrey Storm.

Three-time Superleague champions Wasps take on the Rhinos at home on 6th March and then Leeds travel to Manchester for the first War of the Roses derby against Manchester Thunder.

The Easter Weekend will see the Rhinos involved in the second double header weekend at Resorts World Birmingham and this time will play on both days, starting against Celtic Dragons in the Saturday and Team Bath on the Sunday.

Venues for the club’s home fixtures will be announced in the coming weeks along with details of the membership packages for the 2022 season.  To keep up to date sign up for the Rhinos Netball newsletter CLICK HERE

Speaking about the fixtures Rhinos assistant coach Maggie Birkinshaw said: “Starting off against the Champions will be a huge game for us. We played them three times last year, including in the finals weekend, and we improved in each time and I know the girls will be looking forward to testing themselves again against Lightning.

“Pre season is going really well and the new players have fit in amazingly well and it’s clear to see the team bond that was formed last year is still there and I am excited to see what this group can achieve in 2022.

“It will be great to play in front of Yorkshire crowds again and we have some very exciting news coming up about our home games, along with details of our membership packages.”
