ORGANISATION & JOB TITLE: Leeds Rhinos Rugby League Club Strength and Conditioning Coach

SALARY: £25,000 – £35,000 pa; Dependent upon experience & competitive for Super League Rugby League

LOCATION: Leeds Rugby Academy Training Ground, Kirkstall, Leeds

CONTRACT TYPE: 1 year fixed-term (Full time: Includes weekend/bank holiday work)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Strength & Conditioning Coach to join Leeds Rhinos. The successful candidate will join an excellent science, medicine, and performance team, working at one of the most successful clubs in sport. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Performance. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to contribute to the MDT. The candidate must exhibit excellent knowledge of current evidence-based practice, have a thorough understanding of gym and field-based training methodologies. The Strength & Conditioning Coach must demonstrate a confident ability to plan, prescribe and coach elite athletes in line with the sporting demands and concurrent training. The Strength & Conditioning Coach will work collaboratively with the Head and Assistant Physiotherapist, Sports Scientist, Nutritionist, Coaching staff and other stakeholders.

The duties consist of but are not exclusive to the following:

  • Plan, prescribe and deliver gym and field based training programmes
  • Identify athlete strengths and weaknesses
  • Design and implement management plans for injured players during return to play
  • Appropriate record keeping in line with regulatory bodies
  • General house-keeping and maintenance of the department
  • Contribute to the MDT
  • Maintain strong working relationships and have a clear and transparent pathway of communication with the Medical and Performance team and other stakeholders
  • Adopt the standards and criteria set by the RFL 
  • Adopt the standards of discipline, respect and professional behaviour within the department

Essential criteria:

  • BSc (Hons) Strength and Conditioning / Sports Science or equivalent degree
  • UKSCA or equivalent accreditation
  • Prior experience working with elite sports professionals
  • Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience
  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles

Desirable criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in rugby, or elite full-time sport environment
  • MSc or other equivalent post-graduate qualification
