Rivals round broadcast selections confirmed

Some games mean more. Games with History. Games you must win.

Super League is pleased to confirm that Sky Sports will broadcast three live Betfred Super League games in Round 20 – Rivals Round (19-22 August).

As part of this round, the Rhinos will take on Huddersfield Giants in a clash that has become one of the tightest games between Leeds and any other side in recent seasons. The last three meetings have been decided by a single drop goal, with Leeds winning both matches last season before Lee Gaskell kicked the winner at the John Smith’s Stadium earlier this season. Prior to that there were three draws in five seasons between the sides and who can forget that incredible night back in 2015 when Ryan Hall’s try clinched the League Leaders Shield! There is something about this clash, which dates back to the formation of the game in 1895 that seems to bring the best out of both teams. Plus future Rhino Aidan Sezer could come up against his new team mates.

That night will also be an extra special occasion with Rhinos legend Rob Burrow returning to Emerald Headingley to launch his new autobiography ‘Too Many Reasons to Live’ – it is sure to be an emotional night.

The full round, which will see the Rugby League’s biggest rivals go head-to-head starts on Thursday night (19 August) when league leaders, Catalans Dragons travel to face Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium (7:45pm KO) before Wigan Warriors host St Helens (7:45pm KO) on Friday night as they look to avenge a 26-4 defeat in Round 13.

Saturday will see focus switch to East coast as the Hull Derby takes centre stage on Sky Sports with Hull FC hosting cross city rivals Hull KR at the MKM Stadium. (3pm KO)

These match-ups have provided some of the most talked about moments in Super League history and with no doubt all to play for just five rounds from the end of the regular season, and a fortnight before Dacia Magic Weekend, these games will again be sure to create some memorable moments.
