Unbeaten Rhinos and Wigan go head to head this Sunday in Women’s Super League

This Sunday sees the two remaining unbeaten sides in the Betfred Women’s Super League, Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors, go head to head at Victoria Park, kick off 3:30pm.

Lois Forsell’s side come into Sunday’s game off the back of a big win over Warrington Wolves last week, Tara Moxon scoring four tries in a 56-0 result, but this week will be the Rhinos’ first major challenge of the season, having beaten York, Wakefield, Featherstone, Bradford and the Wolves so far.

The win last week ensured that the Rhinos remained at the top of the league table with five wins from five matches but close behind them are Wigan, who have also won their opening five matches of the season. Only behind Leeds on points difference, Kris Ratcliffe side have been as ruthless as the Rhinos, beating the likes of Bradford, Castleford and Huddersfield convincingly. With five internationals in their ranks, the Warriors have threats across the field, including Georgia Wilson, who has 12 tries so far in 2021, and Vicky Molyneux, who along with Wilson, represent England against Wales.

In the league, Leeds and Wigan have met five times, including the 2018 Grand Final. The Rhinos hold the winning record with three wins, compared to the Warriors’ two, and in 2019, Leeds won both matches, including a 12-4 result on the road thanks to tries from Courtney Winfield-Hill and Fran Goldthorp, who had debuted for the club two weeks earlier.
