Top Three Super League Moments vs Catalans Dragons
Leeds and Catalans Dragons meet at Emerald Headingley this Friday, kick off 7:45pm. Both teams come into the game in impeccable form; the Rhinos winning their last four league games while the Dragons currently sit at the top of the Super League table.
Ahead of the match, here is a trip down memory lane with a look back at three of the top moments from previous Super League League clashes between the sides.
3. 2019 – Rhyse Martin scores try of the season
On the rise after a tough start to the 2019 season, Leeds backed up a 31-12 win over the Dragons with a 40 point thrashing of Steve McNamara’s side later that season. One of the standout moments from the game was by Leeds’ recent signing Rhyse Martin, who busted out of a couple of tackles and raced over 40 metres to score under the posts in what turned out to be Leeds’ try of the season. The half back also added ten goals in an outstanding performance.
2. 2007 – Webb hat trick helps Leeds to three consecutive wins
After beating Catalans home and away in their debut Super League season, Leeds continued their winning spree over the Dragons when the French outfit visited Headingley in 2007. On the night, full back Brent Webb took the plaudits with a hat trick to aid Leeds to a 54-8 win.
1. 2014 – Late penalty goal edges Leeds to one point win
A dramatic last minute penalty made this one of the most memorable fixtures between the Rhinos and Dragons.
In a closely fought contest with tries from Ryan Hall, Ben Jones-Bishop, Josh Walters, Carl Ablett and Joel Moon the Dragons looked like they were heading for a victory after a late Morgan Escare drop goal, but then Liam Sutcliffe stepped up to make a pressure kick in the final minute….
