Top Three Super League Moments vs Leigh Centurions

Leeds and Leigh Centurions meet at Emerald Headingley this Thursday, kick off 7:45pm. The Rhinos come into the game off the back of successive League wins against Castleford and Salford while Leigh are still searching for their first win of the season.

Ahead of the match, here is a trip down memory lane with a look back at three of the top moments from previous Super League League clashes between the sides.

3. 2016 – Rhinos secure safety with Qualifiers result

Leeds had already secured their Super League status by the time they welcomed Leigh to Emerald Headingley in the final round of the Qualifiers in 2016 but the Rhinos finished their season in style, winning 37-12. Seven tries from the home side sealed a resounding result and a length of the field effort from James Segeyaro was a highlight.

2. 2017 – Rhinos edge close contest thanks to Cuthbertson double

In only the second Super League meeting between the two clubs, Leigh pushed Leeds for eighty minutes in 2017 but the Rhinos prevailed nonetheless with a 22-14 win. Adam Cuthbertson’s two tries were enough to give Leeds their second win over the Centurions that season, as well as tries from Joel Moon and Tom Briscoe.

1. 2005 – Leeds score 40 in first home win over Centurions

Leeds and Leigh first met at Emerald Headingley in 2005, after the Rhinos had defeated the Centurions 60-4 the week before at the Coliseum. Flying high in the league, the reigning Champions put the newly promoted side to the sword with a 42-24 win; Mark Calderwood adding to his hat trick the week before with a second half double in front of the home fans.
