Rhinos Netball set for Mavericks rematch at the Copper Box

After a week’s break, the Vitality Netball Super League returns this weekend, with Leeds Rhinos Netball set to face Saracens Mavericks on Sunday 24th April for the second time this season.

Mavericks are just one spot above the Rhinos in the league and just outside the top four so this weekend’s game will be a massive game for both clubs.

The last time the teams met the game was a closely fought contest, which Mavericks edged to come out on top 43-39. It was a tough day for the Rhinos, with the league newcomers suffering three injury blows – with Tuaine Keenan, Donnell Wallam and Fi Toner all forced from the court.

Saracens Mavericks have reached the Grand Final seven times – a feat only matched by one other side. Out of the seven Grand Final appearances, Mavericks won their two titles in 2008 and 2011. One of the founding members of the league, they have played featured in every Superleague season.

Three of the Mavericks squad are part of the England Roses squad. Jodie Gibson is one of the most experience with 25 appearances for her country, Gabriella Marshall – a former England U21 captain who made her Roses debut in 2017 and Razia Quashie, who has 15 caps after making her international debut against Jamaica.

The game from the Copper Box will be live on Sky Sports YouTube on Sunday at 4pm. Click on the link below to set a reminder.
