On this Day – 7th April
ON THIS DAY in 2000 Leeds lost 42-12 at home to St Helens in Super League. The Rhinos had a disappointing start to the campaign, losing against Wakefield, Wigan and Halifax in their opening three games – although they had experienced better fortune in the Challenge Cup and had already booked their place in the Final.
In this game Dave Barnhill and Ryan Sheridan scored tries and Francis Cummins scored three goals, but it was not enough to prevent a miserable day for Dean Lance’s side.
ON THIS DAY in 2006 Leeds beat Hull FC 34-26 at KC Stadium with Danny McGuire running the show for Leeds.
This was the first time the two teams had met since last year’s Powergen Challenge Cup Final although Hull were minus one major factor in that Final success, their coach John Kear. Despite losing captain Kevin Sinfield to injury the Rhinos ran in five tries to secure their eighth win of the season.
ON THIS DAY in 2013 Leeds Rhinos recorded a well earned 28-22 win over Warrington at Headingley Carnegie with Ryan Hall scoring two sensational tries. Danny McGuire, Paul McShane and Kallum Watkins all added tries each in a dominant performance for the Rhinos.
ON THIS DAY in 2017 Leeds Rhinos lost out 25-14 to Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones despite tries from Tom Briscoe, Matt Parcell and Joel Moon.
The Rhinos have not defeated Warrington at the Halliwell Jones Stadium since the play off meeting in 2011 however hopes were high of reversing that trend after a poor start to the season from Tony Smith’s side with just one point from their opening seven games.
