Leah Kennedy joins Rhinos Netball

Leeds Rhinos Netball have brought in experienced defender Leah Kennedy to support athlete numbers while the club’s injured athletes continue their rehabilitation.

The 28-year-old, who can play Goal Keeper, Goal Defence and Wing Defence began her netball career with Hartlepool-based Oaksway and she then went on to played for Team Northumbria, making her debut aged 17 and going on to captain the side. Kennedy went on to play for Strathclyde Sirens, before having time away from the professional game to focus on her coaching career. She has played six times for the England Roses, the first time in 2006 against Northern Ireland.

Kennedy is a late registration to the squad, which has been accepted on the grounds of exceptional circumstances, and that she will only be eligible to play for the club for the duration of those circumstances.
