Leeds Rhinos Supporters’ Board welcomes new members
In 2012 Leeds Rhinos proudly became the first Rugby League Club to introduce a Supporters’ Board with the aim of shaping a positive future for the club and its dedicated fans. The group has continued to support Leeds Rhinos throughout the last nine years by helping to influence ‘Off pitch’ matters and to bridge the gap between Leeds Rhinos and their fans.
Throughout the pandemic, the Supporters’ Board members have continued to support the club and have met Head of Customer Experience, Sian Jones and Customer Experience Executive, Ashley Marshall, on a fortnightly basis via a zoom call to ensure they all keep in touch. Board Members have reported feedback they have seen and heard from fans and the group have discussed matters surrounding the pandemic, its impact on the club and the fans and how the club can best manage each process when communicating with our supporters.
Up until the Leeds Rhinos season was postponed last year, two key people who worked with Leeds Rhinos on a match day were John Devine and John Taylor and both were also invited to join the regular fortnightly calls. They have been an integral part of the club’s support network throughout COVID and the current 13 board members voted unanimously to invite them to join the Supporters’ Board.
Fans may recognise John as the club’s fans match day photographer and James is always around the ground meeting and greeting fans on arrival along with fellow board member, Steve Conlon who is also a match day volunteer.
Commenting on the induction of the new members, Sian Jones said: “The Supporters’ Board have been such an integral part of the development of our great club, but over the last year their help in supporting making key decisions along with helping ensure our communication to fans provided all the necessary detail and covered all bases, has been fantastic. They have been a brilliant support to me and my team and we are truly grateful.
“John and James have worked as match day volunteers with us since 2015 along with Steve and they have been regular attenders at our meetings and always willing to help and support. It seemed only right we bring them officially onto the board and I was really pleased they both accepted.”

The aim of this group is to establish a voice for all supporters of the club to ensure they maintain the success Leeds Rhinos has had over previous years working with fans. Please note that the board members only work towards activity off the field, not activity on the field.
