Huddersfield Giants preview

Ian Watson
Leeds Rhinos travel to the John Smith’s Stadium this Sunday for the only pre-season clash for Richard Agar’s side, kick off 2pm.
2021 is an exciting new era for the Giants with the arrival of Ian Watson from Salford Red Devils as a permanent replacement for Simon Woolford, who left the club midway through last season.
Watson has set about re-shaping the squad with centre Ricky Leutele returning to the Betfred Super League having played last season at the Toronto Wolfpack.
The 30-year-old has made more than 150 first-team appearances for Cronulla Sharks, Toronto Wolfpack and Melbourne, helping the Sharks to a Grand Final triumph in 2016.
Leutele joined Toronto ahead of the 2018 season, and was picked up by Melbourne on a short-term contract after the Wolfpack pulled out of Super League last season.
Another recruit from the Wolfpack is hooker James Cunningham, who previously played at London Broncos.
Watson has brought in two players he has worked with previously at Salford. Prop Luke Yates joins after the Giants agreed an undisclosed fee with Salford whilst Josh Jones moves from Hull FC.
Jack Ashworth has signed from St Helens. The 25-year-old made 43 first team appearances for Saints since making his debut back in 2015. He is an England Knights international and has also spent time on loan at Rochdale, Sheffield and Leigh.
England International Joe Greenwood has joined from Wigan Warriors and could come up against the Rhinos, the team he joined on loan last season but did not play a game for. State of Origin star Chris McQueen joined the Giants midway through last season and has extended his stay.
