ON THIS DAY in 1973 former Leeds player Brett Mullins was born in Sydney.
Before joining Leeds, Mullins played for Canberra Raiders and was part of the 1994 winning side. He had made over 180 appearances for the club when he joined Leeds. During that time he also game honours for New South Wales and Australia, following in the footsteps of his father Bill Mullins.
He played twelve times for Leeds in one season and scored four tries. He returned to Australia at the end of the 2001 season to play for Sydney Roosters.
ON THIS DAY in 1980 former Leeds player Andy Speak was born. The hooker joined from Stanley Rangers and played in the 1999 season for the club and made four appearances in blue and amber.
He went onto play for a number of clubs, including Shefield, Halifax, Wakefield, Castleford and Doncaster.
ON THIS DAY in 1999 Leeds player Alex Sutcliffe was born in Wakefield. Sutcliffe joined the Rhinos Academy from Oulton Raiders and he made his debut in 2017 against Wigan Warriors.
After spending time with Featherstone Rovers on dual registration, where he played 18 times and scored 16 tries, he returned to Leeds full time in 2020 and became a first team regular and earned a place in the Challenge Cup Final winning squad against Salford.
