On this Day – 16th January
ON THIS DAY in 1983 Leeds took on Featherstone Rovers in the league. It was the second meeting between the teams that season and in the first match Tony Burke and Kevin Dick had both scored a brace of tries to help Leeds to a 23-14 win.
Coming into this game Leeds were in good form, in their last eight games they had won seven and drawn one, however Featherstone on this occasion were to be victorious, taking revenge for the Loiners earlier win over them by defeating their Yorkshire rivals.
Andy Sykes was the Loiners only try scorer and Kevin Dick scored a goal, but in front of a 5,587 Headingley crowd Leeds lost 11-5.
